Greater Sudbury, ON – Volunteers and staff from Habitat for Humanity Ontario Gateway North (Habitat) joined members of the Lockerby Legion Branch 564 and community leaders at a Remembrance Day event in Sudbury yesterday to honour those who have served Canada.

The event, hosted by the Lockerby Legion, provided an opportunity for Habitat to recognize veterans’ service and sacrifice while sharing plans for “Building Futures in Sudbury,” a Habitat home being developed for a veteran family.

“Habitat for Humanity builds strength, stability, and independence through affordable homeownership,” said Kimberley Woodcock, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Ontario Gateway North. “As we prepare to build a home dedicated to a veteran family, we are deeply grateful for the service of those who have protected our freedom and for the partnerships that make this work possible.”

While Habitat did not lead the event, participation offered a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of the Sudbury veteran home project and strengthen relationships with community partners and local veterans.

Building Futures in Sudbury represents Habitat’s ongoing commitment to serving those who serve others. “Habitat helps working families, including veterans, achieve affordable homeownership through Habitat’s unique non-profit model,” said Richard Barlow, Sudbury ReStore Manager.

November 12 marks the official launch of fundraising in support of the project, to be located at 416 Melvin Street in Sudbury. With a $460,000 target, all donations are gratefully received and can be made through https://habitatgatewaynorth.com or at the Sudbury ReStore, located at 2167 Armstrong Street, Greater Sudbury.
