Habitat Partner Family Takes Occupancy in Magnetawan

PDF Version

Magnetawan, ON – Habitat for Humanity Ontario Gateway North (Habitat) and it’s Magnetawan Chapter are proud to announce the completion of 173 South Street, ON. The Magnetawan Chapter has realized it’s dream of developing affordable housing on behalf of their community.

Habitat’s first Partner Family in Magnetawan has taken occupancy in the newly constructed home. The young couple will purchase the home at fair market value from Habitat next year. “Affordability is offered through the Habitat mortgage,” says Kimberley Woodcock, CEO. “Our mortgages require no down payment; they are interest-free; and the payments are geared-to-income.”

The Partner Family members are already contributors to the community but were struggling to find a permanent home due to issues of cost and supply. Because of this ‘hand up’, they can stay in, and serve, the community they love.

This affordable homeownership opportunity would not have been possible without the support of the Magnetawan Municipality, other government organizations, local businesses, charitable foundations, community members (year-round and seasonal), and volunteers, especially those who lead the Magnetawan Chapter of Habitat.
