Hard work by a dedicated volunteer group from 1999 to 2001 led to Habitat for Humanity Muskoka being incorporated on April 20, 2001. Affiliate status was received on November 29, 2001 and charitable status was received at the start of 2003. The first home was completed in Huntsville in 2002 and 15 homes have been constructed since then; in Bracebridge, Huntsville, Bala and Gravenhurst.
The Bracebridge/Gravenhurst ReStore opened in 2006 at 1964 Muskoka Beach Road with funding from Ontario Trillium Foundation. A second ReStore was opened in Huntsville in August 2012 to serve the north Muskoka and Parry Sound markets. The Huntsville ReStore is located at 3 Crescent Road.
The Regional Office in Muskoka plans and manages HFHOGN build projects in the area, including raising funds, hosting events, organizing volunteers, selecting and maintaining contact with the partner families and working with the community. In addition, the Muskoka office handles all administrative duties for the chapters and the ReStores.
To bring affordable homeownership to your community, please consider making a donation that will bring a family into partnership and help break the cycle of poverty.
